As if I didn’t have enough to worry about already…

Apparently, the Itty Bitty Kitty Committee thinks I don’t have enough to do.

Why me? Don’t misunderstand, he’s an adorable little wretch, and there’s no way I’d have suggested the Minister of Rocktology abandon an orphaned kitten, but I still think we are well beyond Maximum Safe Cat Density already.

Here’s some trivia I read somewhere: supposedly, most felines have pretty much the same general behavioral responses and temperament. This means a housecat (Felis catus) is about as amenable to being a pet as, say, a tiger (Panthera tigris).

As I remember it being described, the only real difference is that when a specimen of Panthera tigris decides to dart out from behind the couch to attack your ankle for no apparent reason, the effect on your ankle is somewhat more severe, hence the relative popularity of less-bodily-harm-capable Felis catus as pets.

I rate “Kodama” (as we’ve named him) here at around one picotiger worth of ferocity, though that seems to be increasing rapidly as he gets proper feeding and play.

Still…why couldn’t it have at LEAST been a puppy, if it had to be anything at all?…

  1. Kodama is cute! How many brother & sisters does he have? How has Corny taken to him?

  2. I’m not sure how many others there were – they were all orphaned, and other people adopted the others. The Minister of Rocktology adopted this one. He wasn’t actually found in a tree, but he DOES like to climb.

Also, I’m going to have to revise the Ferocity Index up at least three orders of magnitude to one nanoTiger. He’s obviously feeling better, and is currently trying to eat my hand…

  3. Hello, I appreciate the post in and of itself, however, I am curious regarding the tiger print blanket the kitten is on. I owned a blanket of a very similar print, and it was stolen from me. I do not remember the brand, make, etc of the blanket, hence my searching the internet for hopes of finding the same blanket to purchase again. Your picture is the closest one I can find to the same print. So I ask, what is the make and design of the blanket so I may track down the exact one I once owned. Thanks!!

  4. I’ve had that blanket for many years now – I can’t even remember for certain, but I think I actually got it from a roadside vendor in central California at least 15 years ago. It doesn’t have any tag on it at all, so I don’t even know anything about the manufacturer.

The closest I can find to it at the moment is this more modern full-color thing (…and, wow, it looks like they’ve got a “Three Wolf Moon” print, too, in case the t-shirt isn’t enough…)

Best I can suggest is searching for “acrylic tiger print blanket” and wading through the piles of links that result…not very helpful, I’m afraid.
